Spooky Sketches

This week to celebrate the Halloween season we had a candy 

character contest where everyone designed characters 

inspired by Halloween candy. The winner 

won a pumpkin bucket of candy and the runner up won 

a handful of candy.

The winner of the contest was Gigi Wang 

with her candy design.

The runner up was Paige Hall with her 

root beer candy design.

Everyone else had wonderful designs as well.

Visual Development Day!

This Friday we talked about Visual Development.

We looked at storyboards, character designs, and environments

from animated features, tv animation, and video games!

Animal Gestures!

This week we focused on drawing animals!  

Jinny brought in a wide range of reference materials:

(Rhinohouse, Creaturebook, Pixelovely, elephantart)

We started by looking over a handout she made for us.  

The goal of the session was to capture the pose of the animal, 

focusing on larger shapes and working in.  Jinny put together a

 timed powerpoint for us to draw from. 

She also recommended "The Art of Animal Drawing" by Ken Hultgren, 

which goes into the skeletal structure of many animals.
