Aladdin Color Studies

This week, we did digital studies of this
scene in Disney's Aladdin:

We discussed the use of complementary colors in the scene,
as well as the compositional elements and the use of
atmospheric perspective and depth with color.

Here are the studies from our awesome members:

Crafty Compositions

This week we studied compositions by breaking them
down into their basic shapes. We set up a craft table
with construction paper, glue, tape, and scissors.
Some people made compositions traditionally with the
crafts and some people made them digitally
using the lasso tool in Photoshop.

The compositions we studied were from the movie
The Iron Giant.

We also looked at helpful composition tutorials while studying the compositions.
All of these are really useful and worth the read.

Here are some of the compositions we made.

Environment Studies

This week we explored environments and composition!
We started off by looking at this artist's method for inspiration.
We also looked at backgrounds for animation
and passed around these books.

If you missed this week, I have included my notes:

Lilo & Stitch

This week we watched scenes from Lilo and Stitch. We drew
gestures and studied some of the compositions
within the scenes.
